In 2021 we developed our education outreach package, and in conjunction with Music Generation Waterford launched a new ‘Discover Opera project for local primary schools. Generously funded with the support of the Tomar Trust, the project included a series of online and classroom workshops, culminating in an exciting new Discover Opera trail for participating schools at Lismore Castle. In 2022, the Discover Singing project for primary school children was launched with Music Generation Waterford – providing access and opportunity for children and young people in Waterford to experience high quality performance music.
1000s of visitors to this year’s Blackwater Valley Opera Festival enjoyed our four opera performances in the grounds of Lismore Castle, our schools night at the opera – a free, full scale dress rehearsal production of Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice in the grounds of Lismore Castle, Co. Waterford; as well as classical music concerts and recitals, and free lunchtime open-air lunchtime recitals across Cork and Waterford.
