Announcement of new Blackwater Valley Opera Festival Bursary
As part of our ongoing efforts to promote opera in Ireland, we are pleased to announce the creation of the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival Bursary. The value of this annual bursary is €10,000, and it will be awarded for the first time in January 2020 at our annual 100 Club Lunch.
The purpose of the bursary is to recognise talented artists who have demonstrated commitment and dedication to The Blackwater Valley Opera Festival. Award recipients will be encouraged to undertake opera-specific projects with which they may have otherwise been unable to engage, to further their musical education and performing ability, and to promote the works and endeavours of Irish Composers. The recipient will be selected by the Festival’s Artistic Director Dieter Kaegi.
This bursary would not be possible without the generous support of one of our donors. This donor joins a community of supportive Friends, Members, sponsors, individuals, and businesses who have enabled us to expand and develop our contribution to Irish classical musical.
BVOF is maturing into a Festival that not only provides high-quality artistic performances with a focus on Irish talent but also a talent pathway to provide aspiring opera singers from across Ireland to follow their passion. Joining the ranks of our education outreach programme and our Mobile Music Machine (which inspires primary school children in our local community), this new bursary is set to become a central part of the Festival and further our contribution to Irish opera over the coming years.
Throughout the coming months, we will keep you updated with regard to The BVOF Bursary Bursary, including the announcement of the winner as well as progress on their project.
