Free open-air recitals in Fermoy and Youghal, Lismore and Dungarvan – Tickets available for local communities and groups.

With just one week to go until this year’s Blackwater Valley Opera Festival (BVOF), organisers are encouraging local community groups to book their FREE tickets for the open air lunchtime recitals in Fermoy and Youghal.

This year’s BVOF Open Air Lunchtime Recitals in County Waterford will be in Lismore Millennium Park on Wednesday 1st June at 1pm, and Dungarvan Walton Park on Friday 3rd June at 12 noon.

This year’s BVOF Open Air Lunchtime Recitals in County Cork will be in Youghal Green Park on Saturday 4th June at 12 noon, and Fermoy Town Park on Monday 6th June at 12 noon.

Ireland’s Summer Opera Festival runs from May 31 – June 6, 2022, featuring world-class opera, award-winning musicians, international performers, and acclaimed dance troupes who will perform in unique venues across the Blackwater Valley.

Other highlights of this year’s festival include the headline opera Orfeo ed Euridice by Gluck with the Irish Baroque Orchestra, CoisCéim Dance Theatre and the BVOF Chorus, a special BVOF Voices of Ukraine performance, a new ‘Discover Singing’ programme, concerts in the breath-taking Dromore Yard, a James Joyce spoken recital, BVOF Voices of Ukraine with all ticket proceeds going to UNICEF dance and orchestral collaborations, free open air lunchtime performances in towns across the Blackwater Valley.

Delicious dining and hospitality at the festival includes formal dinner options and gourmet picnics by Eunice Power; chef Colin Hennessy; and lunch at The Saucy Hen, Villierstown. Taste Waterford is the new hospital partner in 2022 for Blackwater Valley Opera Festival.

The Blackwater Valley Opera Festival is a living, breathing opera and classical music experience – made possible with the support grants from The Arts Council, Waterford City & County Council, Waterford Leader, and Faílte Ireland.  The festival’s lead sponsors are Kildare Village, Marsh, AIB and the John Pollard Foundation.

  • ‘Joyce in Music’ Recital: With Princess Grace Irish Library, Monaco and RIAM – Saturday 4th June 4pm at St Carthage’s Cathedral, Lismore. Price €20 plus booking fee
  • Irish Heritage Bursary Recital 2022: With David Corr and Clara Siegle – Sunday 5th June 1pm (SOLD OUT) at Salterbridge House, Cappoquin, Co. Waterford. Price €20 plus booking fee. *Concessions are available for senior citizens, students, and community groups via the Box Office
  • BVOF Voices of Ukraine: “Blakytne Nebo i Pshenychni Polya” (Blue Skies and Wheat Fields) – Sunday 5th June, 4pm at Dromore Yard, Co. Waterford. Prices €20 – €40 (Ticket price excludes €3.50 booking fee per order). All profits from this event will be donated to UNICEF’s work supporting children in Ukraine.
