BVOF Brings Joy to Care Homes

At a time when live musical performance all over the world has been postponed or cancelled, I’m delighted to share some special news with our closest friends of BVOF. With thanks to national funding awarded by Creative Ireland and The Ireland Funds, we have been able to uniquely offer live music to the most vulnerable people in our communities.

In partnership with the musicians of the renowned ensemble Mobile Music Machine, who also deliver our schools’ programme, we have performed a series of ‘Covid Care Concerts’ in care homes across Waterford, Kerry, Tipperary, Wexford and Dublin over the last number of weeks. This has been an incredible bonus for our musicians and our older communities.

The one-hour concert recitals take place at an appropriate social distance in the grounds of care homes. Residents and staff gather in outdoor areas or listen to the performance through open windows and doors and feedback from the first series of concerts has been really overwhelming. The Covid Care Concerts have already reached over 2,000 care home residents and we have seen first-hand the joy and positive impact of live music on the residents and wonderful staff and we hope that the concerts will leave a powerful legacy across our local communities. I hope you will enjoy viewing the RTÉ News coverage below.

Warmest wishes from all the BVOF team,

Eamonn Carroll, Festival Director
