Opera Singer Anthony Kearns

Anthony Kearns Concert At BVOF 2020

Opera Singer Anthony Kearns

We are delighted to welcome “Ireland’s foremost tenor” Anthony Kearns to BVOF as part of our 2020 concert series. Anthony Kearn will perform a tribute concert to Count John McCormack at Dromore Yard on Sunday 31 May at 20:15. Book tickets here.

Kearns fills a unique place in the Irish music scene, having toured the globe with Double-Platinum ranked The Irish Tenors for over a decade in addition to developing a rich solo career. As a soloist, Kearns has performed for Barack Obama, opened California’s Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival for over 6000 people, appeared on international opera stages, and sung with hundreds of the world’s best symphony orchestras. Yet what makes Kearns stand out even more than his impressive track record is his skill as a performer. Kearns has truly universal appeal – time and time again, he enchants audiences with his magnetic charm, flawless voice, and wide repertoire.

Festival Director Eamonn Carroll says of Kearns, “We look forward to welcoming Anthony to the Festival once again. In 2018 his rendition of Nemorino in our production of Donizetti’s L’Elisir D’Amore was truly wonderful. This year we welcome him to Dromore Yard for a tribute concert to Ireland’s greatest ever tenor John McCormack which I am sure will be a huge highlight of the 2020 festival.”

Accompanying Kearns on Sunday evening are pianist Niall Kinsella and Lynda O’Connor, lead violinist of the BVOF Orchestra. Kinsella is known as one of Ireland’s most exciting young performers, who has been “shaking up the format of the song recital” with his Irish Songmakers’ Series (Irish Examiner). Kinsella has performed across Europe as a concert accompanist, as well as appearing in recitals with leading Irish and international singers in some of Europe’s finest concert halls.

BVOF Creative Director Dieter Kaegi says “I’m delighted to see Anthony Kearns coming back to the BVOF. No other Irish tenor since John McCormack has had such an incredible international career and enormous success as a singer of both, opera and popular songs. Together with pianist Niall Kinsella, one of Ireland’s finest musicians, this concert will be an unforgettable experience and a unique opportunity to remember the art of the unforgotten John McCormack.”

The final element of this delightful evening of song is our indulgent fine dining and picnicking dinner options. Guests are invited to join us for either a picnic in the magical grounds surrounding Dromore Yard or for a bespoke three-course gourmet meal created by chef Eunice Power.

BVOF would like to thank Ivor Fitzpatrick & Company Solicitors for their kind support of this eagerly-anticipated concert.
